My cousin!?

ok, so i have this step-cousin jeff, i'm 14, and he's 15, but i've known him for 12 years. i feel so uncomfortable around him, also i think he hates me. next time we go to visit how can i talk to him? i mean, i have to deal with the *** my whole life, so might as well be able to talk to him, right??
