The Montgomery Bill and Education While Active, U.S. Army?

I enlisted a few months ago and am going Active in the Army and one of the things they had me sign up for was the Montgomery Bill to help with education. Now, as I understand it, as I have not been able to get a crystal clear descript. on this Mont. Bill, I have to wait a year before I use it or I can hold onto it for my kids to use someday for their education. I have been told, as long as I'm Active in the Army, they will pay for my education anyway, so save the Mont. Bill for my children. I just want to know if that's true, that in fact the Army DOES pay for my education while staying Active, or not...
