Next question on ip address?

ok i went to several different free - no cost - free no charge proxiy web sites. the few that i have looked at would not let me get to the next step. to read or send my emails . what needs to change with the proxiy or my computer so i can hide my home computer id address. How do i block - mask -or hide or change my ip address while i read my emails or send my emails at home or work.
