What exactly did Oscar Schindler do to help the Jews during the Holocaust?

Practically every Jew he saved would have been exterminated in a concentration camp had he not intervened. In the latter part of the war, he spent practically his entire fortune bribing the Nazi commandant for as many Jews as he could save. The price kept going up and he kept paying it because deportation meant certain death. He also rescued at least a hundred of them who were taken to Auschwitz without his knowledge, at great expense and great personal risk. He demanded their release and then brought them back to the factory. He also allowed them to honor the Sabbath and have prayer services at the factory. He was practically broke at the end of the war because he spent all his war profits providing for them.
